More about black ants..
"Black ants" are extremely adaptable, displacing native ant species where ever they go. The worker ants are only about 3mm long and can easily squeeze through cracks 1 mm in size. These tiny ants nest several feet under ground, though they sometimes nest in cracks of concrete walls and boards.
Argentine ants also causes agricultural problems by protecting plant pests, like aphids from predators and parasites. In return for this protection, the ants receive a sweet excretion, known as "honeydew". Agricultural areas overrun by ants have large population densities of plant parasites. Unlike most species of ants, Argentine ants do not attack or compete with each other, further increasing their ability to infest areas.
Argentine ants are a common household pest, often entering structures in search of water or food. Typically during the hot season or to escape flooded nests during periods of heavy rainfall. Argentine ant colonies have many reproductive queens, as many as eight for every 1,000 workers, so eliminating a single queen does not stop the colony's ability to breed.
Get rid of your ants today!
Here at Happy Pest Control of San Diego, we're prepared to deal with your ant problem as effectively as possible. We use low toxicity pesticides to ensure your peace of mind. We treat both the inside and outside of the home to ensure the colony does not move its location. While some companies prefer to use small "hand tank-wand sprayer" apparatuses on the outside of the home, we believe that understanding the pest is key. This is why we use power sprayers that mix tens of gallons of water with a couple ounces of pesticide to ensure a total saturation of the property. Our retreatment rate is one of the lowest in the industry. Our methods may cut into our profit slightly more than the hand tank method, but there is no replacement for total ant control.
